Common Questions

Quick Answers

Can I install Ultra-Fin myself?

Ultra-Fin must be installed by a licensed HVAC or plumbing contractor. The hydronic system requires proper commissioning and pressure testing to code. We can connect you with a certified installer.

Does it work with my existing boiler?

Ultra-Fin works with all common hydronic heat sources — gas, oil, heat pump, and solar thermal. A mixing valve may be needed if your boiler operates at high supply temperatures.

How long does installation take?

Most residential projects install in one to two days depending on square footage and zone complexity. Ultra-Fin typically installs faster than competing systems due to the simplified clip-and-run process.

What's included in a quote?

Material pricing for fins, clips, and tubing based on your floor plan. We can also provide a layout drawing, fin spacing specification, and tubing takeoff for your project.

Can it be added to an existing home?

Yes — if you have access from below (basement or crawlspace), Ultra-Fin is one of the only viable retrofit radiant options for wood-frame homes. No floor tear-up required.

What floor coverings are compatible?

All common floor coverings — hardwood, engineered wood, tile, LVP, laminate, and carpet. Combined R-value of the floor covering should be R-1.5 or less for best performance.
